Logical structure

A well-structured text progresses logically through the content. Structure applies at many levels, from the overall structure to the progression of each section, paragraph and sentence. A strong structure is particularly important for documents that are likely to be read on screen.

You need to:

  • think about what information needs to be included
  • write down the main headings
  • organise the content into a logical order
  • think about whether any of the material could be in an appendix (ie is it essential to the flow of information or is it extra information that could be placed at the end?).
