Shortened forms

Shortened forms are commonly used in nonfiction writing to reduce the bulk of long terms –such as names of organisations and technical phrases – within the text.

Reminder. Just because the abbreviation of a term is made up of capitals, it does not mean that the term has initial capitals when it is spelled out.

Add an s, without an apostrophe, for shortened forms that take a plural.
