Making content usable

People now access screen-based content on many devices and in many environments. Digital content lets you reach your audiences in various ways, but it needs to be carefully designed to support their mode of access.

Questions to ask about whether your digital content is usable include:

  • Can your content be read comfortably in various contexts (eg at a busy train station as well as in a quiet office; on a phone as well as on a laptop)?

  • Does the content adapt to different device types while still communicating your message effectively?

  • Can your users find the information they need and move logically around the content?

  • Can users make decisions about the level of detail or the type of content they want to read?
